Located in Swords, Co. Dublin and just four miles from Dublin airport, Roganstown Golf & Country Club has become a magnet for both Irish and international golfers.
Legendary Irish golfer and now one of the world’s most leading golf course designers, Christy O’Connor Jnr., has created a masterpiece of skill and tactical design at Roganstown. This popular golf course is set amongst peaceful lakes and rolling hills providing a sanctuary for golf lovers’ that is a marriage of the ultimate golfing challenge with true hedonistic pleasure. With the Broadmeadow River flowing alongside the golf course in North Dublin, water comes into play on all but six holes on a course of outstanding beauty.
Many of the right ingredients are very much apparent at this course. The fairways are fairly straight, with mounding on either side. This is complimented with trees that are maturing, making this a lovely course to play. You don’t have to hold back from using your driver on this course as most of the trouble encountered is on the approach to greens. Bunkers are everywhere, and must be avoided, although they are not too taxing. The Par 3 6th is a beautiful hole with a large pond to overcome, so you need to ensure you are long enough to avoid a splash. The 16th is probably the toughest on the course, but enjoyable as well.
The course was the first Irish course to host a Europro Tour event in 2006 and hosted the Irish PGA Southern Championship 2007, 2008 & 2009. Roganstown was also awarded Golf Ireland Magazine’s best new golf course in Ireland 2006/2007 and the championship golf course has been awarded GOLD ranking in the HSBC Regional Awards 2005, 2006 and 2007.
