Over the years The Blackwood has matured into one of Northern Ireland’s finest golf facilities. Sitting amongst the ancient woodlands of the Clandeboye Estate, the Hamilton Course and Temple Course have long had a reputation for their beauty. Now, with years of continual improvement to layout and drainage along with expert green keeping, they have developed into fine examples of parkland golf.
The 18 hole Hamilton Course has been carved out of Clandeboye Estate, combining the existing environmental features with contemporary new woodland. Providing a challenge to players of all abilities it hosted the PGA Ulster Championship for the first time in September 1995. The course features some extremely testing holes with the long par 4, fifth worthy of particular note.
The facilities at The Blackwood offer something for golfers of all ages and experience and are being added to and are improving all the time. The floodlit driving range with its automatic power tees is excellent for practice, the par 3 Temple Course is excellent for beginners.
