Trump International Golf Links Doonbeg
The Dr Martin Hawtree newly re-designed course at Trump International Golf Links Doonbeg offers views of the Atlantic from 16 out 18 holes and spans 1.5 miles along the beachy coastline.
Doonbeg features a single loop of nine holes out and nine back. Greg Norman’s philosophy of ‘least disturbance’ was taken in laying the course through the sand dunes.
The tees, fairways and greens are constructed from the fescue grass of the dunes giving a natural look throughout. The course features exhilarating cliff top golf, rolling linksland fairways and spectacular ocean views.
The layout offers five sets of tee boxes, allowing every level of player to enjoy the challenge without facing an unfair test of their skills. The greens are small, fast and true with plenty of undulations to give the course an extra element of challenge.
The signature hole at Trump International Golf Links Doonbeg is the sixteenth – aptly named “Lucky”. It plays downhill towards the sea, hugging the edge of a 60-foot cliff. Spectacular as it is, playing this hole requires precision and skill with a risk/reward challenge that could mean the difference between success and failure.
All in all, Trump International Golf Links Doonbeg is a stunning course set amidst the wild coast of Ireland’s west coast.
