In July 2020, Royal St. George’s Golf Club will welcome the best golfers in the world to compete at The 149th Open on the links.
Royal St. George’s Golf Club last hosted the event in 2011 where it was won by former Ryder Cup Captain, Darren Clarke and the Championship returns to this historic venue for the 15th time in its long history.
Golf has been played at Sandwich since 1887, and in that time the links have earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the most desirable golf destinations in the world.
Many holes feature blind or partially blind shots, although the unfairness element has been reduced somewhat, after several 20th century modifications. The course also possesses the deepest bunker in championship golf, located on its fourth hole.
